Free Someone” is a tribute to Houston’s graffiti pioneers who turned adversity into artistry, transforming the cityscape into a living canvas. Featuring iconic works like BE SOMEONE over I-45—an emblem of public art without permission—the exhibit challenges the boundaries between unsanctioned graffiti and commissioned murals. Renowned artists such as GONZO247, Phillip O. Perez, Lee Washington, Erik Del Rio, Iris Karami, Craig Long, Chandrika Metivier, and DUAL share their three-decade journey through legal battles, media coverage, and creative collaborations. Through murals, documentaries, hip-hop, and more, “Free Someone” invites audiences to explore Houston’s vibrant graffiti culture and unlock the artist within.
