So I was on a call with DJ Oackliff (OG Hip Hop Club DJ / Sneaker Summit Pioneer) and we both were sharing stories on how we miss playing for the people. He then mentioned the re-opening (post quarantine) of the Sneaker Summit storefront and that he was working the floor, helping out, while the shop got back up to full service. I suggested an in-store set where we could go live from IG and let the sneakerheads know they were back open for business. Next day we got the confirmation, I was finishing the flyer when I got the call to add a logo for the Monster Energy / Monster Music #CrushQuarantine campaign.
Countdown to Saturday and I was having trouble getting sleep. This will have been the first time I set my equipment up since the first week of March. I had accepted the fact that the quarantine was officially going to shut down the venues I was playing so I set up shop in my apartment for Live sets on Social Media to keep my audience entertained while we all waited this thing out.
Driving up to the Sneaker Summit, I received a text from DJ Oakcliff. UGK’s BUN B would be dropping by. He had just launched his own quarantine T-shirt & Mask with the shop for charity purposes (UGK BUNDLE HERE).
Two hours into the mix, time had flown by. Bun came through doing his own IG LIVE to promote for the cause, DJ Oakcliff got on the microphone for the first time in over a month, the sneaker shop was starting to get packed and I was able to throw down some beats in the background for all those who dropped by to snatch up their exclusive streetwear… and free Monster Energy Tall Cans.
